As the Miami Heat gear up to make moves this offseason, some around the league are urging the team to take a cautious approach, favoring low-risk acquisitions that won’t deplete their valuable assets.
That said, the NBA offseason is always ripe with trade speculation, and Miami remains a frequent name in superstar rumors. One of the latest trade proposals from Bleacher Report imagines the Heat landing Memphis Grizzlies All-Star in exchange for a significant package.
Proposed Trade:
- Heat receive: Ja Morant
- Grizzlies receive: Andrew Wiggins, Nikola Jović, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Pelle Larsson, a 2029 first-round pick, and a 2031 first-round pick swap
“This trade brings Memphis a wing in Andrew Wiggins who could complement Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr., or be moved again for further value,” wrote Bleacher Report’s Andy Bailey. “His $28.2 million salary for 2025-26 is manageable, and the deal includes both future draft capital and a mix of young, versatile players.”
While the Heat would be sacrificing depth in the frontcourt, the addition of Morant would significantly boost their backcourt. It would ease the offensive burden on Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo—allowing Adebayo to focus on his defensive and playmaking strengths while Herro maintains his All-Star-level production alongside a true scoring threat.
“It’s a hefty price to pay for a small guard with injury concerns,” Bailey admitted, “but Morant has legitimate superstar potential. This season showed that Herro and Adebayo alone aren’t enough to seriously contend for a championship.”
