It seems like the Miami Heat are constantly in pursuit of another All-Star. Following their trade of Jimmy Butler to the Golden State Warriors before the deadline, Miami is expected to ramp up its search for a new marquee player this offseason.
So, who might they pursue? While big names like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant remain dream targets, those stars may prefer other destinations. That could force the Heat to shift focus toward a second tier of star-caliber players.
According to Brett Siegel of Clutch Points, one realistic option for Pat Riley and the Heat could be a trade for six-time All-Star. With the Sacramento Kings reportedly open to reshuffling their roster after missing the playoffs, DeRozan—now 35—could become available on the trade market.
“Sources say the Kings plan to explore trade options for DeRozan this summer… For years, the Miami Heat have been considered a top destination for DeRozan, and he is once again expected to be a realistic target for Pat Riley’s team.”

It’s hard to see DeRozan as a primary target for the Heat. Although he’s still a capable player, his peak years are behind him. If Jimmy Butler wasn’t able to bring the team championship success, it’s doubtful DeRozan could do any better.
In the end, the Heat might be better off pursuing a younger star who can make a more significant impact on their win total.
