After his first season as the Green Bay Packers’ starting quarterback, Jordan Love was quickly hailed as a potential superstar. While his debut as a starter was impressive, it didn’t necessarily confirm his long-term success. Heading into the 2024 season, expectations were sky-high for Love to take a major leap forward. Unfortunately, that didn’t pan out. He suffered an injury in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles and never quite regained form, resulting in an underwhelming season overall. The Packers as a whole also failed to meet expectations.
Looking ahead to the 2025 season, there’s hope that Love can bounce back in a big way. Still, questions linger about what the future holds if he doesn’t. NFL analyst Henry McKenna from Fox Sports weighed in with a harsh critique of Love and the team’s decision to extend his contract. “There’s a good chance he’ll be healthier and more consistent in 2025,” McKenna noted. “He should grow and turn more of his talent into wins. But we’ve seen many promising quarterbacks struggle at this stage. There’s a real possibility Love keeps making risky throws — and that could hurt the Packers’ playoff chances.”
McKenna went on to say, “I’m open to giving the contract more time, and I’m not giving up on Love. But I do have real concerns about the direction this is heading.”

In 2024, Love appeared in 15 games, completing 63.1% of his passes for 3,389 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions — solid numbers, but not elite.
At just 26 years old, Love still has time to grow. With only two seasons as a starting quarterback under his belt, he’s under pressure to justify the massive four-year, $220 million extension he signed, but patience remains important. The Packers are hoping 2025 will be his breakout year. Love’s talent and potential are undeniable — now he needs to show it consistently. He and the Packers will begin the 2025 NFL season with a tough home opener against the division-rival Detroit Lions on Sept. 7 at 4:25 p.m. ET.
