Breaking News: Packers Sign Another Highly Rated Receiver With Quality Skills and Energy

The Green Bay Packers signed Isaiah Neyor, a receiver with an outstanding mix of size and speed. In a matching roster change, second year guard Travis Glover was placed on injured reserve.

Neyor was undrafted this year but is a promising prospect. He stood 6-foot-4 1/4 inches tall and weighed 218 pounds after his senior year at Nebraska. He ran the 40 in 4.40 seconds and had a 39-inch vertical jump. His Relative Athletic Score was 9. 90.

“It was a fast 40, but I actually cramped up during the run,” he shared on Up & Adams.

Despite his potential, things never fully clicked on the field. In 2021 at Wyoming, he hauled in 44 receptions for 878 yards, topping the Mountain West Conference with a 20.0-yard average and scoring 12 touchdowns.

He later transferred to Texas, but missed the entire 2022 season due to a torn ACL and was limited to just one appearance in 2023. He wrapped up his college career at Nebraska, posting 34 catches for 455 yards and five touchdowns in 2024, with standout performances against UTEP, Illinois, and UCLA.

“When it comes to physicality, I feel I’m just as good, if not better, than I was during my time at Wyoming,” he said during Nebraska’s fall camp.

“It’s been building for a while, and now that I finally have the opportunity to get out there and compete on a stage like this, it feels amazing. I’m really excited for the season and for what we can accomplish this year.”

He described his time at Texas as feeling like being in “prison,” saying it was as if he’d been “locked away from something I love deeply.” He expressed gratitude for the chance to play at Nebraska.

“The most important thing for me was staying positive, no matter what I was going through … staying optimistic,” he said early last season. “I’m actually proud of how far I’ve come. It was incredibly difficult. I was in a tough spot, and pushing through all that adversity really says a lot.”

Isaiah Neyor joined the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent. At the time, the team clearly saw potential in him, offering a $25,000 signing bonus and guaranteeing $234,000 of his base salary for the season. However, he was released earlier this week.

Neyor came to football later than most. Prior to his sophomore year at Lamar High School in Arlington, Texas, he wasn’t involved in any sports programs.

“When Isaiah first arrived at Lamar, he wasn’t signed up for football—or even athletics,” former head coach Laban DeLay told WyomingNews.com. “My assistant head coach happened to be in his class, and coach Daniel Wilkinson called me up and said, ‘You need to come see this guy.’ I went over to the school, introduced myself, and immediately noticed, his hands were massive and incredibly strong.”

“When I questioned him about his activities, he replied, ‘Nothing, I just go to school.'” After we persuaded him to join us for football, he eventually showed up for us a few days later. We had to teach him stance, alignment, and the game itself since he was so undeveloped.

Dane Brugler of The Athletic stated that Neyor is “allergic to consistency,” but he still thought he was a sixth-round pick.

He did, however, write in The Beast: “Neyor is a formidable physical specimen with the elite combination of height, weight, and explosive speed to be a mismatch.”

After dismissing Sam Brown due to an ankle injury, the Packers were shorthanded at receiver. Dontayvion Wicks has also missed time due to a calf ailment.

Glover had been out for a week with a shoulder issue. According to a source, it is too early to say whether Glover will be able to join the Packers’ 53-man roster at the end of training camp or if the injury is more serious.

When Elgton Jenkins and Aaron Banks were unavailable, he took over the starting offense in training camp. It indicated a tremendous recovery after being forced into action in the Eagles’ playoff loss but being benched after three penalties.

“My main goal, just like last year when I got thrown in the playoff game, is to go re-earn they trust,” claimed Glover.

I simply saw it as an educational opportunity a fantastic one,” he added. “It’s probably the biggest moment you could have.” Elgton’s collapse during the first round of the playoffs against the Eagles is what I just take as a reminder that ten years from now, I can look back on it and say, “I remember when I got thrown in that fire.” Although I didn’t perform, I went out and took it the following year.
