South Carolina’s offseason roster reshaping has continued as two wide receivers from the Gamecocks’ program officially charted new paths for the next phase of their college careers. With the transfer portal in full swing and teams across the country finalizing their rosters ahead of spring preparations. Each secured destinations that place them in markedly different competitive and geographic settings. Their departures underscore the fluid nature of modern college football, where opportunity, fit and timing often dictate movement just as much as on-field production.
Vandrevius Jacobs emerged as the more high-profile of the two moves, committing to national championship finalist Miami, while Rowe opted for a fresh start on the West Coast at UCLA under new head coach Bob Chesney, according to multiple media reports. Miami, which will face Indiana in the national championship game on Jan. 19, continues to aggressively bolster its roster with experienced talent as it looks to sustain its title push into next season.

Jacobs originally transferred to South Carolina ahead of the 2024 campaign after beginning his college career at Florida State. His first season in Columbia was relatively quiet, as he saw limited action while acclimating to the system. That changed dramatically in 2025, when the Florida native emerged as one of the Gamecocks’ most reliable offensive weapons. The redshirt sophomore led the team with 32 receptions, totaling 548 receiving yards and four touchdowns. For much of the season, he served as South Carolina’s No. 2 receiving option, trailing only Nyck Harbor in targets and production. His blend of experience, consistency and familiarity with high-level programs made him an appealing addition for Miami’s championship-bound roster.

Jacobs may not be the only former Gamecock to land in Coral Gables. Former South Carolina offensive lineman Josiah Thompson was also visiting Miami on Saturday, according to On3’s Chad Simmons, adding to the possibility of multiple USC alumni joining the Hurricanes.
Brian Rowe’s move to UCLA comes after a more turbulent season. A member of South Carolina’s highly regarded 2025 recruiting class, Rowe entered college as part of a receiver group that included Donovan Murph, Lex Cyrus, Jordon Gidron, Malik Clark and Jayden Sellers. Among that group, Murph, Sellers and Rowe saw the most action on the field. Rowe finished the season with 19 receptions for 149 yards and one touchdown but saw his role diminish late in the year. He was suspended for the Oklahoma game alongside two teammates due to what head coach Shane Beamer described as “a violation of team standards,” and he played sparingly in the regular-season finale against Clemson. His transfer to UCLA offers a reset and a chance to reestablish his trajectory in a new environment.
