Breaking News: The Phillies player will be traded sooner than you think, fans left stunned

The Phillies are clearly not planning to sell at the trade deadline, but that doesn’t mean every player on the roster is untouchable.

As June approaches, Philadelphia stands out as one of Major League Baseball’s elite teams, holding the best winning percentage in the league and leading the National League in overall record.

Heading into Friday’s games, the Phillies have won nine of their last 10 series and boast the seventh-highest run differential in the majors. Their rotation is dominant, the offense is firing on all cylinders, and the bullpen has rebounded after a rocky start to the season.

It’s rare for a contending team like the Phillies to deal away key players, but with the July 31 trade deadline on the horizon, a few names could be in play as trade chips.

One player who might be on the move sooner than expected is Brandon Marsh

Acquired from the Angels in 2022 in exchange for top catching prospect Logan O’Hoppe, Marsh was brought in to fill an immediate outfield need. While O’Hoppe has become a core player for the Angels, Marsh hasn’t quite lived up to expectations in Philadelphia.

Marsh quickly won over fans with his distinctive appearance and lively personality. However, his on-field production has fallen short of what the team hoped for.

He started strong after the trade, hitting .288 with 14 extra-base hits in 41 games and helping the Phillies reach the 2022 World Series. He followed that up with a solid 2023, batting .277 with career-best numbers in doubles (25), triples (six), and RBIs (60).

But 2024 was a down year, as he hit just .249 across 135 games, including significant slumps in July and August. The struggles have carried into 2025—through 36 games, Marsh is hitting .220/.308/.308 with a .616 OPS, six extra-base hits, and 10 RBIs in 91 at-bats. He missed time with a hamstring issue and went on a Triple-A rehab assignment, which briefly sparked improvement at the plate.

Although he hit .467 in his first 15 at-bats after returning, he’s cooled off again, hitting only .154 over the last six games with just one extra-base hit. At 27, Marsh still has two more years of team control before reaching free agency in 2028, which could appeal to teams seeking outfield depth.

However, with Johan Rojas showing progress offensively this season and top prospect Justin Crawford excelling in Triple-A, Marsh may no longer be part of the Phillies’ long-term plans. His value on the trade market could help Philadelphia bolster its roster for a playoff push.
