BREAKING: North Carolina Officially Land Commitment from ‘Standout’ 4-star Guard

The North Carolina Tar Heels are making it clear that they intend to stay competitive at the highest level, and their recent transfer portal activity proves exactly that. In an era where roster turnover can make or break a season, the Tar Heels have been proactive, aggressive, and highly effective in bringing in experienced talent to reload for the future.

Fresh off securing commitments from Achol Akot and Sophie Burrows, Banghart and the staff continued their impressive run by adding former Stanford Cardinal guard Chloe Clardy. Her decision came swiftly during her official visit to Chapel Hill, reinforcing the growing notion that once top players step on campus, the program tends to seal the deal.

Clardy, who hails from Conway, Arkansas, spent three seasons at Stanford, where she played a role during the program’s transition from the Pac-12 to the ACC. Although she initially came off the bench, her role expanded significantly over time. By her sophomore and junior years, she was logging heavy minutes—averaging over 30 minutes per game—essentially functioning as a starter despite technically being listed as a reserve.

After limited action in her freshman season, Clardy carved out a consistent role in Stanford’s rotation beginning in year two. Her offensive production followed suit, as she recorded double-digit scoring averages in each of the past two seasons. This past year marked her best scoring output yet, as she posted a career-high 12 points per game.

While her shooting efficiency dipped slightly last season, there’s optimism in Chapel Hill that she can rediscover the form she displayed earlier in her career. During her sophomore campaign, Clardy was remarkably efficient, shooting 43.4% from the field and nearly 38% from three-point range—numbers that highlight her potential as a high-impact contributor.

North Carolina did lose several key players from last season, including three departures via the transfer portal. However, Banghart and her staff have responded impressively, retooling the roster with experienced additions. In fact, all three of their latest commits came during the same weekend of official visits, showcasing the program’s strong recruiting momentum.

As Armando Bacot once famously said, “if you don’t want to commit to UNC, don’t visit because you will.” Right now, that statement continues to ring true.
