Breaking: Panthers Complete a Wide Receiver in a Shocking Deal

The Carolina Panthers have re-signed wide receiver, just a week after releasing him, following the injury-related release of rookie wideout Moose Muhammad III. Muhammad, an undrafted free agent from Texas A&M and son of Panthers Hall of Honor inductee Muhsin Muhammad II, was waived with an injury designation after participating in rookie minicamp and voluntary workouts.

Luther, 25, has had a journeyman career since going undrafted in 2023, with stints on the practice squads of the New York Jets, New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Green Bay Packers. He initially joined the Panthers’ practice squad in December 2024 and signed a reserve/future contract in January 2025 before being waived earlier this month.

With a crowded wide receiver room that includes Tetairoa McMillan, Xavier Legette, Adam Thielen, and Hunter Renfrow, Luther faces stiff competition to secure a spot on the active roster. Nonetheless, his re-signing provides him another opportunity to prove himself during offseason activities and training camp.
