BREAKING: Phillies’ All-Star Snub Trea Turner Sends 3-Word Message Amid Hot Stretch

When the Phillies signed Trea Turner to a massive $300 million contract ahead of the 2023 season, expectations couldn’t have been higher. His first few months in Philadelphia were rocky, but by the end of his debut season, Turner had settled in and delivered. He even earned an All-Star nod last year. This summer, though, he was left off the All-Star roster a decision that raised plenty of eyebrows.

Even without the recognition, Turner has been one of the most productive players in baseball this season. He entered Thursday hitting .295 while leading the National League in hits with 151. He did go through a bit of a dip in July, but still managed a respectable .268 average during that stretch. Since then, he’s been on a tear. In August, Turner owns a .914 OPS and is batting .333. Over his last seven games alone, he has racked up 21 hits—the most by any Phillies player in nearly a century, according to The Athletic’s Matt Gelb.

“Consistency is nice,” Turner said when asked about his recent hot streak, per Gelb. His steady play has been a major reason why Philadelphia keeps stacking wins.

The Phillies have been among baseball’s best teams this year, holding the second-best record in the National League and the third-best overall heading into Thursday. It’s hard to imagine them being in this position without Turner’s contributions. While his OPS is slightly lower than it was last season, he still owns a 116 OPS+, well above league average. Turner has already led the majors in hits twice during his career and could very well add another title to that resume this year.

A three-time All-Star, Silver Slugger, batting champion, and World Series winner, Turner’s track record speaks for itself. This season, he’s proving once again that he’s more than worth the investment—and he’s aiming to help guide Philadelphia back to the World Series.
