Top star isn’t to blame for the Phillies’ struggles, but the team clearly needs to make some changes. After designating Roger Clemens’ son for assignment to make room for outfielder Weston Wilson, who had just returned from the injured list, the Phillies were able to strike a deal with the Minnesota Twins. The Twins will bring top star on board to help with their infield depth.
The exact return for veteran star in the trade has not been disclosed, but it is expected to be either cash or a player to be named later. Clemens never secured a full-time role with the Phillies, posting a .220/.265/.394 line over 97 games and three seasons, with nine home runs. He did contribute in last year’s postseason, going 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI.
Clemens was acquired by Philadelphia in a trade with the Tigers in 2023, where the Phillies sent Matt Vierling, Nick Maton, and Donny Sands to Detroit in exchange for Clemens and Gregory Soto.

If the Phillies’ struggles continue, more changes could be imminent, especially with a bullpen that has been unable to hold leads and an underperforming offense. Currently, the team sits at a .500 record of 13-13.
