Breaking: Phillies’ Offers All-Star Stunning $100 Million Contract

With nine-figure contracts becoming increasingly common targets for players and agents during negotiations, Philadelphia Phillies designated hitter want away may soon join the $100 million club.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan sees him as a strong candidate for such a deal, citing his skillset and leadership qualities. Passan believes he is well-positioned to be among the next group of players to secure a contract worth over $100 million, noting that a deal averaging $25 million annually would be fully justified.

“A designated hitter nearing 33 years old getting a nine-figure deal? Schwarber defies norms in many ways, so why not this one too?” Passan wrote. “He consistently produces, is a standout presence in the clubhouse, and in a market short on elite bats, a four-year deal at $25 million per year makes complete sense.”

Schwarber is currently finishing a four-year, $79 million contract with the Phillies, earning $20 million in 2025, according to Spotrac. As he enters the final year of that deal, he’s preparing for potential new contract talks.

The Phillies could look to extend Schwarber during the season or risk losing him in free agency.

Back in February, Schwarber made it clear he’d like to remain in Philadelphia and hoped to secure an extension sooner rather than later.

“We’ll see,” he told MLB.com. “There’s interest on our side, so we’ll see how things progress during camp if discussions move forward.”

He added that focusing on winning is the best path to a new contract.

“Jon Lester once told me, ‘The best way to get paid is to win.’ That’s what I’ll concentrate on—it’s always been my mindset.”

Can the Phillies Keep Their Veteran Core Intact?
The Phillies fell short in the 2024 NL Division Series against the Mets, but Schwarber hopes the team can go deeper in 2025.
