Breaking: Rutgers Secures Commitment for Another Top Star From Portal

Rutgers Football has added another player through the transfer portal, bringing in former Washington long snapper Caleb Johnston. He joins the Scarlet Knights with two years of eligibility remaining.

This addition is aimed at filling the void left by Austin Riggs, the team’s dependable long snapper who declared for the NFL Draft earlier this year.

Johnston, who stands 5-foot-11 and weighs 221 pounds, is a native of Ripon, California, and a graduate of Ripon High School. He was part of Washington’s 2022 recruiting class.

He redshirted his freshman year in 2022 and served as a backup in 2023. Although initially listed as a backup again for the 2024 season, Johnston became the starting long snapper for PATs and field goals beginning in Week 4, holding the role for the remainder of the season.
