Breaking: UW Football officially land another commitment from top talented 4-star offense

Sam Houston State offensive lineman has made his commitment to Washington in understated fashion. Rather than a formal announcement, Kolt Dieterich quietly updated his social media bio to list himself as an offensive lineman with UW Football, which was confirmation enough that his recruitment had come to an end.

Dieterich visited Montlake over the weekend, and that trip proved decisive. With the Huskies having recently lost multiple offensive linemen to the transfer portal, adding an experienced option quickly became a priority. Dieterich fit that need well, bringing both game experience and remaining eligibility, as he has two seasons left to play over the next two years.

Sam Houston OL Kolt Dieterich is entering the portal. A big loss on the OL for the Kats

Originally part of the 2023 recruiting class, Dieterich came out of Riesel High School in Riesel, Texas. His high school recruitment flew somewhat under the radar, as Sam Houston State and Columbia were his only offers at the time. As a freshman, he appeared in three games, allowing him to preserve a redshirt season. His role expanded significantly the following year, when he played in all 13 games and earned starts in six of the final seven contests for the Bearkats.

This past season marked his biggest step forward. Dieterich locked down the right tackle position and emerged as one of the most consistent linemen in Conference USA. His performance was backed up by analytics, as he posted a 75.5 Pro Football Focus grade, the highest among all offensive linemen in the conference.

Looking ahead to Washington’s depth chart, Dieterich is not expected to immediately unseat Drew Azzopardi, a three-year starter who returns at tackle. Instead, Dieterich projects as a reliable, battle-tested backup in the short term, with a clear path to becoming the starter after the 2026 season. His addition reflects a lesson the Huskies have learned since entering the Big Ten: quality depth in the trenches is essential. Injuries are inevitable, and teams that can plug in capable replacements are far better positioned to survive a long season.

National evaluators agree on Dieterich’s value. According to 247Sports, he carries a 92 transfer rating, ranks as the sixth-best offensive tackle in the portal, and checks in as the No. 64 overall transfer prospect.
