The Philadelphia Phillies have been a pleasure to watch this season. There hasn’t been a shortage of home runs since Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper entered the lineup.
With an 85-60 record, the team clearly dominates the National League East. They have a nine-game lead over the New York Mets in the division and are well on their way to another playoff appearance.
Under Rob Thomson’s leadership, this club has achieved great success. He has a current record of 335-245 and has led his team to the playoffs every season he has been in charge.
Thomson’s is under contract for the 2026 season. However, if the Phillies fall short again in October, owner John Middleton may consider making changes.

Yankees’ bench coach linked to Phillies’ job, per insider
ESPN’s Buster Olney just wrote a story on prospective managerial or front office changes for next season. In this article, he mentioned New York Yankees bench coach Brad Ausmus as a possible replacement if Thomson is out.
“If president of baseball operations David Dombrowski is looking for another manager, keep in mind that he hired Brad Ausmus in Detroit and, by all accounts, had a good working relationship with him.” Ausmus now serves as the Yankees’ bench coach.

Olney addresses David Dombrowski’s relationship with Brad Ausmus, whom he hired to be the Detroit Tigers’ manager before of the 2014 season, succeeding Jim Leyland. Given their familiarity, it stands to reason that if Philadelphia fires Thomson, they may follow suit.
