Bucks’ True Feelings Revealed on Blockbuster NBA Trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo

Following the Milwaukee Bucks’ first-round exit at the hands of the Indiana Pacers in the 2025 NBA Playoffs, trade rumors have started to swirl — with most of the speculation centered on Giannis Antetokounmpo. After three consecutive early postseason exits, many expect the Bucks’ superstar to consider asking for a trade.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the team and Antetokounmpo are expected to sit down this summer to determine the path forward. Both sides have been open about their intentions heading into these crucial discussions.

However, NBA insider Marc Stein shared on Monday what the Milwaukee Bucks intend to do when it comes to Giannis Antetokounmpo. The insider reported on “The Stein Line” that the Bucks have no intention of parting ways with their star player.

“The Bucks, according to league sources, are still optimistic that Giannis Antetokounmpo won’t request a trade despite a third straight first-round playoff exit,” Stein wrote. “It may be wishful thinking, but as we’ve noted all season, Milwaukee has no intention of considering a trade involving their franchise cornerstone unless absolutely necessary.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo remains focused on chasing another championship following the Bucks’ 2021 title win over the Phoenix Suns. However, the team has struggled to stay competitive over the past three seasons.

In an effort to build around their superstar, Milwaukee has made significant roster moves, including the high-profile acquisition of Damian Lillard to provide Antetokounmpo with a fellow All-Star running mate.

Milwaukee also brought in Doc Rivers, a head coach with a championship pedigree, to help guide the team. Additionally, they traded Khris Middleton—who has struggled with injuries—to the Washington Wizards, acquiring former Lakers champion Kyle Kuzma in return.

Despite the team’s ongoing playoff disappointments, Giannis Antetokounmpo has yet to request a trade. That said, Shams Charania reported that the nine-time All-Star is “open-minded” about his future with the Bucks.
