The Kentucky Wildcats have bolstered their frontcourt with the addition of 7-foot-1 center, a Lexington native transferring from Miami (OH).
A former standout at Lexington Catholic, he returns to his home state after a strong sophomore year in the Mid-American Conference, where he played a key role in Miami’s 25–9 season and run to the MAC Tournament title game. He saw action in 30 games, averaging 6.5 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in just 17 minutes per game.
Reece Potter impressed with his offensive versatility, shooting 46.6% from the field and connecting on 36.7% of his two three-point attempts per game—an uncommon trait for a player of his size. His combination of length, shooting touch, and upside made him a top target for head coach Mark Pope, who is revamping Kentucky’s roster with a mix of experience and potential.
Potter’s commitment is more than just a return home—it signals ambition. “It’s time to hang number 9,” he told A Sea of Blue, referring to Kentucky’s pursuit of a ninth national title.

With Pope’s system emphasizing spacing, shooting, and pace, Potter’s stretch-big skill set could be an ideal fit in SEC play. His local roots and high ceiling make him a significant piece of Kentucky’s 2024–25 puzzle.
Welcome home, Reece!
