The Colorado Buffaloes have been making headlines recently, largely due to two top NFL Draft prospects: Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders. Hunter, a versatile wide receiver and cornerback, was selected second overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Meanwhile, Sanders, a highly rated quarterback, surprisingly remained undrafted through the first two days. Colorado’s roster is also set to look quite different this fall, with cornerback reportedly entering the transfer portal. He had previously transferred from Auburn to Colorado after his freshman season in 2023.
He posted six pass breakups, two interceptions, one tackle for loss, and 24 total tackles — 20 of them solo — during last season. He also led the Big 12 with 105 interception return yards. On special teams, he added six kickoff returns for 119 yards.
Colorado has seen a wave of players enter the transfer portal lately, including running back Isaiah Augustave, the team’s leading rusher in 2024, who has since committed to Virginia.
In his two seasons as head coach, Deion Sanders — a Hall of Fame NFL cornerback and father of Shedeur Sanders — has breathed new life into a program that had struggled for years. The Buffaloes finished the 2024 season with a 9-4 record and made it to the Alamo Bowl, where they fell to Brigham Young by 22 points.

The Buffaloes haven’t celebrated a bowl game victory since the 2004 season, when they edged out Texas-El Paso 33-28 in the now-defunct Houston Bowl.
