The 2025 NBA Draft picture just became clearer thanks to a major announcement from the Duke Blue Devils.
Duke wrapped up an impressive season with a 35-4 record, led by standout freshman Cooper Flagg, along with key contributors Kon Knueppel and Tyrese Proctor.
After the season ended, both Knueppel and Proctor declared for the draft, but the spotlight remained firmly on Flagg, who has long been projected as the No. 1 overall pick since arriving at Duke.
On Monday, Flagg made it official—he’s entering the 2025 NBA Draft.
Following his announcement on social media, Duke head coach Jon Scheyer shared a heartfelt message for Flagg. The Blue Devils’ official account posted a tribute video featuring Scheyer’s words.
“We’re really proud of Cooper for the incredible season he had,” Scheyer said. “His accolades speak volumes—sweeping National Player of the Year honors. The impact he had on both ends of the court, his highlights, his numbers—it was one of the best freshman seasons we’ve ever seen. Cooper excelled in every part of our program.”
The Duke social media team echoed the praise, calling Flagg “an absolute winner,” “the best player in the country,” and “the #1 pick.”

In his freshman year, Flagg averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game, while also contributing 1.4 steals and 1.4 blocks per game. He led Duke in all five major statistical categories.
Now, with his draft declaration official, Flagg is widely expected to go first overall. The Utah Jazz, Charlotte Hornets, and Washington Wizards currently have the best odds to land the Duke phenom.
