HUGE BOOST: Fans Breathe Easy As The Braves Announce Another Blockbuster Deal And Confirms Orlando Arcia Replacement

The Atlanta Braves have added pitcher Jose Cuas on a minor league deal, assigning him to their Double-A affiliate in Columbus, according to the team’s transaction page and confirmed by the Clingstones’ roster update.

Cuas, 30, is a three-year MLB veteran who made his debut in 2022 with the Kansas City Royals. In 2023, he split time between the Royals and Chicago Cubs, appearing in a combined 71 games. Last year, he pitched for both the Cubs and Toronto Blue Jays organizations.

Before joining the Braves, Cuas was pitching in Triple-A within the Phillies’ system until his release on May 1, 2025.

Known for his distinctive lower arm angle delivery, Cuas gained some attention earlier in the decade for working as a FedEx delivery driver during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over his MLB career, Cuas has appeared in 132 games, pitching 119.2 innings with a 4.37 ERA and a 4.81 xFIP. He’s maintained a solid strikeout rate, fanning more than 22% of hitters faced.

The Incredible Journey of José Cuas

This season at Triple-A, Cuas struggled with a notable drop in strikeouts alongside an uptick in walks. The Braves will be hoping that a fresh start in their system can help him regain his form and potentially earn another shot at the major leagues.
