An Auburn Tigers wide receiver is preparing to enter the college football transfer portal.
According to Hayes Fawcett of On3/Rivals, Auburn’s Perry Thompson has decided to make the move. Thompson has spent two seasons with the Tigers and will have two years of eligibility left once he transfers.

Thompson wrapped up the 2024 season with five catches for 126 yards and a touchdown, then followed with 17 receptions for 154 yards in 2025. Despite increased usage, he did not score a touchdown this past season.
Coming out of high school, Thompson was a highly regarded prospect. He was a four-star recruit, ranked as the No. 5 player in Alabama’s 2024 class, the No. 11 wide receiver nationally, and the No. 44 overall recruit in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Now, after two years at Auburn, Thompson is exploring his next opportunity through the transfer portal.
Another program will look to give Thompson a fresh start after his limited production over the past two seasons at Auburn.
The Tigers, meanwhile, are entering a new era after hiring Alex Golesh as their next head coach last Sunday. Golesh signed a six-year contract with Auburn following a three-year stint as South Florida’s head coach.

He posted a 23-15 record with the Bulls, including a 9-3 finish this season — USF’s best campaign since 2017, when Charlie Strong led the team to a 10-2 mark.
Golesh now takes on the challenge of restoring Auburn to SEC and national relevance. The Tigers ended the 2025 season with a 5-7 record, missing the postseason for the second straight year. His task will be to rebuild the roster, reestablish competitiveness, and put Auburn back in the hunt for championships.
