Just In: Auburn Drops Bombshell After Denver Jones Decision

The Auburn Tigers basketball team has experienced an emotional stretch over the past few days, consistently making headlines since the conclusion of the 2024-25 season.

The most recent development centers around Veteran star, who has officially announced his departure from the program. He now joins Johni Broome and Tahaad Pettiford in declaring for the NBA Draft, though Pettiford has opted to retain his NCAA eligibility should he choose to come back.

Coach Bruce Pearl has wasted no time in working to replace these key departures and reshape the roster for what he hopes will be a strong 2025-26 campaign. While fans and teammates are understandably disappointed to see Denver Jones move on, it was the reaction to his farewell message that truly caught everyone’s attention. Jones shared a heartfelt post that read, “Wouldn’t trade this for anything in the world. #Auburnman4L.”

Jones’ message was met with widespread support, but the most standout response came from the official Auburn Men’s Basketball Instagram account, which honored him with the simple yet powerful words: “Auburn Legend.”

Those are powerful words for Jones, especially given the rich and storied legacy of Auburn basketball. The program has produced a number of legendary figures over the years, such as Chuck Person, Mike Mitchell, Charles Barkley, Wesley Person, and Eddie Johnson.

In his final season with Auburn, Jones averaged 10.9 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game.

Throughout his four-year college career, Jones recorded averages of 12.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.
