The Auburn Tigers made a deep run in the NCAA Tournament, reaching the Final Four before being knocked out of the national title race. Their tournament journey came to an end against the eventual champions, the Florida Gators, following a remarkable March Madness stretch.
Prior to the loss, Auburn notched impressive victories over Alabama State, Creighton, Michigan, and Michigan State.
With their Elite Eight win over the Spartans, the Tigers recorded their 32nd victory of the season — the most in program history when combining regular season and NCAA Tournament wins. “A Historic Season,” the official Auburn Tigers social media account posted in celebration.
“A Historic Season,” read a post from the official Auburn Tigers social media account — a fitting tribute to a year that will go down as one of the program’s finest.
The Tigers were powered by the stellar play of Naismith Player of the Year runner-up Johni Broome and dynamic freshman guard Tahaad Pettiford.

Broome closed out his fifth collegiate season with averages of 18.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game. He ranked eighth nationally in rebounding and firmly established himself as one of the elite two-way players in the country.
Pettiford, a highly touted freshman, made an immediate impact, averaging 11.6 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game. Following Auburn’s deep NCAA Tournament run, the talented guard declared for the 2025 NBA Draft.
Although the Tigers fell just short of capturing a national title, the legacy of this team — and the players who led it — will be forever etched into Auburn basketball history.
