Just In: Bills Rookie Takes a Major Shot at Josh Allen Spark Mixed Reactions From Fans

Before being selected by the Buffalo Bills in the NFL Draft, defensive tackle made it clear he wasn’t a supporter of Josh Allen winning the MVP award.

Allen narrowly edged out Lamar Jackson in last season’s MVP voting, despite Jackson earning first-team All-Pro honors at quarterback. During the draft combine, Walker voiced his opinion, saying he believed Jackson was more deserving of the award.

Josh Allen’s New Teammate Preferred Lamar Jackson

When asked about the MVP race during the combine—prior to being drafted by the Bills—Kentucky defensive tackle and NFL prospect Deone Walker didn’t hesitate to show his support for Lamar Jackson.

“Lamar,” Walker said. “He got robbed.”

While some Bills fans pushed back on Deone Walker’s previous comments about the MVP race, others noted that his opinion might shift now that he’s part of the team. Former NFL coach Jay Gruden even chimed in on X, saying, “He will change his take when he meets Josh.”

Despite the debate, there was no animosity between Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen. The two quarterbacks have often expressed mutual respect. After the Bills edged out the Ravens in a close divisional-round playoff game, Jackson offered words of encouragement, saying he hoped Allen would either win the MVP or bring home a Super Bowl title.

“Great players recognize greatness, and we both recognize each other,” Jackson said. “But I told him, ‘Man, go get something. MVP or Super Bowl. Do something.’ I want him to be successful.”

Although Allen and the Bills were eliminated the following week in the AFC Championship by the Kansas City Chiefs, Allen was later named the league’s MVP.
