The Atlanta Braves have signed a pitcher to a minor league deal, per the team’s transaction page. He’s been assigned to Double-A Columbus, as noted on the Clingstones’ transaction log.
Cuas, 30, made his MLB debut in 2022 with the Kansas City Royals and has three years of major league experience. He played for both the Royals and Chicago Cubs in 2023, appearing in 71 games combined. Last season, he saw time with the Cubs and the Toronto Blue Jays.
Before his release on May 1, 2025, Cuas had been pitching in Triple-A within the Phillies’ system.
A right-hander known for his lower arm slot delivery, Cuas drew some attention earlier in the decade when he worked as a FedEx delivery driver during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over his MLB career, he’s pitched in 132 games with 119.2 innings under his belt, posting a 4.37 ERA and a 4.81 xFIP. He’s struck out over 22% of opposing hitters in the majors.
This season at Triple-A, Cuas struggled, with a noticeable drop in strikeouts and a rise in walks. The Braves are hoping a fresh start in their system can help him return to the majors.
