New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo suffered a serious injury during Week 8 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, but the rookie still showed his trademark energy even as he was helped off the field.
The injury occurred midway through the second quarter at Lincoln Financial Field when Eagles linebacker Zack Baun broke up a pass from Jaxson Dart intended for Skattebo and brought him down awkwardly. Skattebo’s leg twisted beneath him, leaving his foot pointing the wrong way as he remained on the turf.
Trainers quickly placed his leg in an air cast before he was carted off and taken to a nearby hospital. The Giants later confirmed that Skattebo had dislocated his ankle.
Despite Skattebo’s injury, the Giants fell 38–20 to Philadelphia. After the game, fellow running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. said that even in pain, Skattebo was motivating his teammates.
“He’s the one actually yelling from the cart: ‘Let’s f—ing go! Let’s do this!’” Tracy said. “His energy is contagious. You just want to play hard for him.”

That fiery attitude is nothing new for Skattebo, who built his reputation at Arizona State as a relentless, tackle-breaking runner and even became a Heisman Trophy contender last season. Fans saw that same spirit earlier this year when he struck a “Hulk Hogan” pose after the Giants’ Week 6 win on Thursday Night Football.
Skattebo’s promising rookie campaign now ends prematurely, with 410 rushing yards, 207 receiving yards, and six total touchdowns to his name.
