The St. Louis Cardinals are putting one of its young talents on the injured list, and the team’s manager has ideas about it. Oliver Marmol believes the Redbirds will get outfielder back in no time.
“I don’t think it’s going to be more than ten days,” Cardinals manager Marmol told ESPN. “We’ll have him back pretty soon.”
Jordan Walker is battling with wrist inflammation. He is now on a 10-day IL. It’s bad news for the Cardinals, since Walker is batting.333 in his previous 12 games. In that time, he has a home run and 10 RBI.
Walker enjoyed a successful debut season in 2023. That season, he hit.276 with the Redbirds and had 51 RBIs. Last year, he had a.201 batting average.
To compensate for Walker’s departure, the Cardinals called up Ryan Vilade from Triple-A.

The Cardinals are one of the hottest teams in baseball
St. Louis has been on a hot streak over the past month, with Walker playing a key role in their recent success. Thanks to a strong performance in May, the Cardinals climbed to second place in the National League Central.
However, losing Walker is a significant setback. As one of the team’s most promising offensive prospects, his absence will be felt. In his place, players like Victor Scott and others in the lineup will need to step up.
Vilade might help fill the gap—he’s been performing well in the minors, batting .280 with five home runs this season.
The Cardinals, also known as the Redbirds, are among the most storied franchises in MLB history, boasting 11 World Series championships. Despite their legacy, they haven’t reached the playoffs since 2022, which was also the last time they won the NL Central.
St. Louis is set to face the Texas Rangers on Sunday, with the first pitch scheduled for 1:05 p.m. ET. The Cardinals currently hold a 33-25 record.
