Just In: Coach Prime Drops Major Update As He Battles Unknown Health Issues

Deion Sanders has has sent a heart felt message to fans due to recent concerns about his health.

Reports from ESPN and other outlets noted that the Colorado head football coach has been under the weather and away from team activities, missing several spring football camps in Boulder.  Deion Sanders Jr., shared a YouTube livestream confirming that his father is currently in Texas.

The 57-year-old coach—widely known as Coach Prime—addressed the speculation directly on social media.

“Wow, I am truly blessed for the abundance of well wishes, for all the thoughts and all of the prayers. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!” Sanders wrote.
“I can assure you all that everything is OKAY and will continue to be so. God got me like no other. I have so much more work to do to Glorify God so please believe God got me! I’m excited to get back to Colorado to be at home with my staff, team & all associated to our program. When we arrive back to Boulder you will be updated on everything. Until then, I’M COMING BABY.”

Colorado has not released a formal statement regarding Sanders’ absence.

Now entering his third season leading the Buffaloes, Sanders went 4–8 in his first year and followed it up with a 9–4 campaign, during which Travis Hunter captured the Heisman Trophy as a two-way star.

Though the exact nature of his current health issue remains unclear, Sanders has a history of medical challenges. In 2021, he had two toes amputated due to blood clots while coaching at Jackson State. He also missed Pac-12 Media Day in 2023 after undergoing surgeries to remove a blood clot from his right leg and straighten toes on his left foot.

Colorado is set to kick off its 2025 season at home against Georgia Tech on August 29.
