So far, none of Duke’s 10 scholarship players with remaining eligibility have entered the transfer portal or declared for the NBA Draft. While some choices—like projected No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg—seem inevitable, others are still up in the air. One of the more uncertain cases is freshman guard Isaiah Evans.
Evans, a former five-star prospect and McDonald’s All American from North Mecklenburg High School in North Carolina, has the potential to become a standout for Duke in the 2025–26 season. However, with the possibility of Duke landing five-star forward Nate Ament from Highland School in Virginia, Evans may consider transferring to a program where he’d see more playing time.
In his freshman year, Evans played in 36 games, mostly off the bench, and averaged 6.8 points and 1.1 rebounds in just 13.8 minutes per game. He led Duke’s rotation players with a 41.6% shooting clip from three-point range and even appeared as a second-round pick in some mock drafts.

However, his limited role in the postseason—playing fewer than 10 minutes in each NCAA Tournament game after the Round of 64, including just two minutes in Duke’s Final Four loss to Houston—could play a big role in his decision to stay or transfer.
The deadline for entering the transfer portal is April 22.
