JUST IN: Duke basketball star officially announce his departure and no chance of returning for another year

The NBA Draft Combine serves as a platform for prospects to display their abilities and helps teams assess where players might fit in the upcoming draft. For college athletes, the deadline to withdraw and maintain NCAA eligibility is May 28.

Tyrese Proctor had declared for the draft, and there were rumors he might return to college if his stock didn’t rise as expected. However, that option now seems off the table.

Isaac Trotter of 247Sports spoke with the former Duke guard, who confirmed his commitment to going pro:

“Yeah, I’ve always said I’m 100% in or 100% out. I’m happy with my decision. I loved being at Duke. I wish I could (go back), but I am 100% in. (Duke) was really good with all that.”

At 21, Proctor appears fully focused on his NBA journey, with no intention of returning to Duke. He’s one of four starters from Duke’s Final Four squad entering the 2025 NBA Draft.

Proctor came to Duke in 2022 from Australia, bringing international experience with the Australian national team. He competed in the 2022 FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers at age 16 and later in the 2023 FIBA World Cup qualifier win over China.
