The Philadelphia Phillies wrapped up a strong season, finishing 96-66, winning their division, and reaching the NLDS before being eliminated by the eventual World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers. As they head into the offseason, the front office faces several important roster decisions involving some of their top players.
One of the biggest names on that list is All-Star pitcher Ranger Suárez. According to The Athletic’s Tim Britton, Suárez is expected to cash in with a major payday, projecting him for a six-year, $153 million deal.
“Every year I’ve done this, there’s one guy who stands out as a relatively unheralded player about to make a lot more than the casual fan expects. I think Suárez is about to join the likes of Brandon Nimmo and Willy Adames when he signs easily into nine figures…The deals for Gausman and Wheeler are arguably the two best signed for a starting pitcher in the last decade. And while Suárez generally misses some time during the season, no single injury has been catastrophic, and he’s always been healthy for October, where he’s pitched to a sparkling 1.48 ERA,” Britton wrote.

In 2025, Suárez delivered a dependable season, going 12-8 with a 3.20 ERA, 151 strikeouts, and a 1.220 WHIP across 157 innings. He served as a steady No. 2 arm in Philadelphia’s rotation and consistently came through in the postseason, just as Britton highlighted.

It’s clear Suárez is a cornerstone the Phillies should prioritize keeping. His reliability and playoff poise make him crucial to their pitching staff—especially since the lineup already provides plenty of offensive power.
If Philadelphia is wise, they’ll move quickly to make Suárez a competitive offer. Otherwise, another contender could easily step in and snag him away.
