Just In: Raiders Make Blockbuster Trade for Seven-Time Pro Bowler

After finishing the 2024 season with a disappointing 4-13 record, the Las Vegas Raiders have had a notable offseason, largely defined by the departure of several key players in free agency.

Among those lost are safety Tre’von Moehrig, who signed a three-year, \$51 million deal with the Carolina Panthers, cornerback Nate Hobbs, who joined the Green Bay Packers on a four-year, \$48 million contract, and linebacker Robert Spillane, who inked a three-year, \$33 million agreement with the New England Patriots.

Despite these losses, the Raiders still have opportunities to strengthen their roster. In a recent CBS Sports article, Cody Benjamin suggests that Las Vegas could make a splash by trading with the Miami Dolphins for veteran cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

Ramsey has frequently been mentioned in trade speculation, with Dolphins general manager Chris Grier acknowledging the team’s openness to moving the 30-year-old. Still, Ramsey remains a valuable asset in the secondary. In 2024, he faced 71 targets, allowing 44 receptions for 462 yards and three touchdowns, along with two interceptions and an opposing passer rating of 83.2.

Adding Ramsey could provide a significant boost to a Raiders defense that ranked 15th in total yards allowed per game (333.1) and tied for 25th in points surrendered per game (25.5) last season.

Over his nine-year NFL career, Ramsey has consistently performed at a high level, earning seven Pro Bowl selections and three First-Team All-Pro honors. However, acquiring him would likely require the Raiders to absorb the remainder of his three-year, \$72.3 million contract extension, which runs through 2028 — a substantial financial commitment.
