Just In: Ravens’ Rashod Bateman shares heartfelt message after contract extension

The Baltimore Ravens have secured one of their most promising young playmakers, inking wide receiver Rashod Bateman to a three-year, \$36.75 million contract extension that will keep him in purple and black through the 2029 season. The news ignited buzz among fans and added another layer of anticipation heading into the 2025 NFL campaign.

After struggling with injuries early in his career, Bateman broke through in 2024 with a career-best 756 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. His efficiency jumped significantly as well—his 16.8 yards per catch far exceeded his previous career mark of 13.9. That surge in performance helped affirm his long-term value to general manager Eric DeCosta and head coach John Harbaugh, who spearheaded the extension negotiations.

Following the announcement, Bateman took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his appreciation, posting a heartfelt message about his journey and those who stood by him.

“Feeling incredibly grateful today. Baltimore believed in me from the start, and this extension means a lot. I want to thank Mr. Bisciotti, Eric DeCosta, Coach Harbaugh, and the entire coaching staff for their trust and support. It’s been a journey of growth on and off the field,” Bateman wrote.

His message reflected not just professional gratitude, but also a deep emotional connection to the team and city. He shifted his focus toward his teammates, emphasizing the strong locker room chemistry that has fueled his development and helped him overcome early adversity.

“To my teammates, thank you for challenging me, standing by me, and making this locker room feel like home. The bonds I’ve formed here mean the world to me. I’ve grown, matured, and developed both on and off the field. This city has had a lasting impact on who I am. I’m excited for what’s next—let’s get to work.”

Bateman’s heartfelt words struck a chord with fans, offering a rare and authentic look into his personal journey and unwavering loyalty to the Ravens. His message added a deeper emotional layer to the contract extension, highlighting his readiness to take on a larger role in an offense with championship aspirations.

His progression isn’t just an inspiring story—it’s a sign of things to come. Bateman has pushed through adversity and emerged as a player who now reflects the toughness and determination needed for a deep playoff run. With OTAs beginning in early June, his growing bond with GM Eric DeCosta and his leadership within the team have become key signs of his expected breakout in 2025.

By locking in Bateman, the Ravens are anchoring a core piece of their offensive puzzle. For fans and analysts watching the NFL offseason unfold, Bateman’s rise may quietly become one of the most compelling and underrated narratives heading into the new season.
