Major Breaking: Orioles to replace Brandon Hyde with 2-time World Series Champion

The Baltimore Orioles have been without a manager for quite some time, and as the MLB season concludes for multiple organizations, their top objective heading into the summer remains the same: find a new manager, which has been on their schedule since May.

“The Baltimore Orioles fired manager Brandon Hyde on Saturday, hoping that a new leader will spark a turnaround for Major League Baseball’s most disappointing team.” Hyde, who had led the Orioles through the conclusion of their rebuild and helped them reach the playoffs the previous two seasons, oversaw a disappointing start. “The Orioles dropped to 15-29,” ESPN’s Jeff Passan wrote.

Former Chicago Cubs manager David Ross is emerging as a potential candidate to replace Hyde. Jon Heyman, an MLB insider, recently discussed the idea in a video with Bleacher Report.

“In terms of the Cubs, the third candidate Heyman mentioned was David Ross, a two-time World Series champion (with the Boston Red Sox in 2013 and with the Cubs in 2016). “He then served as the Cubs’ manager from 2020 to 2023,” SI’s Grant Young wrote.

Ross was well-liked by his teammates and respected in the Cubs’ clubhouse, but his time in Chicago ended abruptly.

“The Chicago Cubs fired manager David Ross and hired Craig Counsell on Monday. “The longtime Milwaukee Brewers manager was lured to Chicago with a record-breaking five-year, $40 million contract, sources familiar with the deal told ESPN,” Passan wrote.

The Cubs apparently informed Ross that his job was secure before pivoting and hiring Counsell as soon as he became available. Since then, Ross has been keen to return to manage in the majors.

With Braves manager Brian Snitker’s future uncertain, the Orioles could be the most appealing destination for a managerial candidate this winter.

Ross would inherit a roster loaded with intriguing young talent who are anticipated to stick around for the long haul, making Baltimore an appealing option for any manager hoping to make an immediate impact.
