With spring practice now in the books, Auburn football is shifting its focus to summer preparation — but the roster may look a bit different by the time fall camp rolls around. Junior safety announced to On3 that he plans to enter the transfer portal when the spring window opens, marking what could be the start of another wave of roster turnover for Hugh Freeze’s program.
A former four-star recruit from Georgia, never quite found his footing on the Plains. Despite showing flashes of potential, he struggled to crack Auburn’s rotation over the past two seasons. In 2024, he appeared in 10 games but logged just one tackle. His freshman campaign in 2023 was a bit more productive, as he notched six tackles and a pass breakup across 11 appearances. Still, the lack of consistent playing time ultimately led to his decision to seek opportunities elsewhere.
His departure comes as Auburn continues to reshape its secondary with an infusion of new talent. The Tigers landed a pair of blue-chip safeties in AnQuon Fegans and Eric Winters during the most recent recruiting cycle, both of whom bring immediate upside to the position. Additionally, the staff added Georgia Tech transfer Taye Seymore, a veteran presence expected to compete for snaps right away. With the safety room suddenly crowded, Love’s exit isn’t all that surprising — but it does highlight just how competitive the depth chart has become.

As the April 16 transfer portal window approaches, all eyes will be on Auburn to see who else may test the waters — and who the Tigers might target in return. With needs still to be addressed and roster spots available, the portal remains a vital tool in Freeze’s effort to shape a contender in year two. Expect more movement in the coming weeks as Auburn fine-tunes its squad for the season ahead.
