Major Setback: Deion Sanders Gets Bad Colorado News Amid Shedeur Sanders Draft Slide

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders faced even more frustration as he watched his son Shedeur’s unexpected slide in the NFL Draft continue. Adding to the tough day, Colorado cornerback has entered the transfer portal, according to On3 Sports.

Top star was projected to have a significant role in the Buffaloes’ defense next season as they looked to fill the massive void left by Heisman winner Travis Hunter. After transferring to Colorado from Auburn, he appeared in all 13 games during the 2024 season, earning one start while recording two interceptions, six pass breakups, and 24 tackles. He now follows his brother, running back Brandon Hood, into the transfer portal.

When Colton initially committed to Colorado, he emphasized that playing alongside his brother and cousin, linebacker Trenton Hood, was a major factor in his decision. “I wanted to play with my brothers, Brandon and Trent — that was really important to me,” Colton said last year. “We always dreamed of playing on the same college team, and when that opportunity came, I couldn’t pass it up.”

It’s another gut punch for “Coach Prime,” as he not only deals with Colton’s departure but also watches Shedeur remain undrafted after three rounds — a stunning development for a quarterback once projected as a surefire top-10 pick, especially as five other quarterbacks have already been selected.
