For nearly 30 years, the Green Bay Packers have consistently ranked among the NFL’s top offensive teams, thanks in large part to their standout head coaches and quarterbacks.
However, the offensive coordinator position has also played a key role in that success. Most recently, that role has been filled by Adam Stenavich.
A former Packers offensive lineman in 2006, Stenavich was brought on by head coach Matt LaFleur in 2019 as the offensive line coach. Since then, Green Bay has consistently fielded one of the league’s most effective offenses and has been a regular playoff contender.
He was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2022, Aaron Rodgers’ final year with the team. Over his six seasons with the Packers, they’ve won at least 10 games four times and made the postseason five times.
Stenavich has earned a reputation as a reliable play designer, helping the team finish fifth in total offense during the 2024 regular season. His growing resume and recent interviews, including with the Chicago Bears for their head coaching vacancy, suggest he could land a top job soon. (The Bears ultimately hired Ben Johnson.)
The Packers Don’t Need to Panic About His Potential Departure
It’s common in the NFL for top assistants to leave for head coaching opportunities—that’s just how the coaching pipeline works.
LaFleur has already dealt with this kind of transition, losing Nathaniel Hackett to the Denver Broncos in 2022. Should Stenavich move on, the Packers would likely look internally to fill the role, promoting someone already familiar with the system and LaFleur’s offensive vision.
Fans should be confident that whoever LaFleur chooses to replace Stenavich will be capable of keeping the offense running at a high level.
