Major Update: Isaiah Thomas Drops Bombshell Regarding Kings Doug Christie’s Decision Sparks Mixed Reactions

The Sacramento Kings kicked off their 2025 offseason with major changes, hiring a new general manager and head coach before the first round of the playoffs even ended.

After parting ways with Monte McNair, the Kings appointed veteran NBA executive Scott Perry as their new GM. One of Perry’s first major moves was making a pivotal coaching decision.

Just 31 games into the 2024-25 season, Sacramento dismissed Mike Brown and promoted Doug Christie to interim head coach. Christie led the team to a 27-24 record over the final 51 games but fell short of the playoffs. Still, the organization believed he had earned a real opportunity.

As a result, Perry and the Kings removed the interim label and signed Christie to a multi-year deal as the team’s full-time head coach.

This was a major move for the Kings, particularly since many anticipated that Scott Perry would opt for an external candidate. However, the decision to keep Doug Christie has generated excitement among fans and those close to the franchise.

Former Kings draft pick and 12-year NBA veteran Isaiah Thomas expressed his approval on Instagram, showing support for both Christie and his former team.

Isaiah Thomas: “”

Isaiah Thomas, drafted 60th overall by the Kings in 2011, spent three seasons in Sacramento before rising to stardom with the Boston Celtics. During his two-and-a-half-year stint in Boston, he earned two All-Star selections and even placed in the top five in MVP voting. Despite his breakout happening elsewhere, Thomas continues to show appreciation for the team that gave him his NBA start.
