The Atlanta Braves have reportedly released former All-Star infielder Orlando Arcia, according to Grant McAuley of 92.9 The Game. This move comes on the heels of the team also parting ways with another former All-Star, Garrett Cooper.
Arcia, 30, joined the Braves during the 2021 season and earned an All-Star nod in 2023, finishing that year with a solid .264 batting average, a .321 on-base percentage, and a .420 slugging percentage, resulting in a .741 OPS.
However, his performance dipped significantly in 2025. Over 14 games, Arcia hit just .194 with a .445 OPS, prompting Atlanta to cut ties with the veteran.
A major league player since 2016, Arcia brings experience and defensive flexibility, having played shortstop, second base, third base, and even some outfield. Despite his recent struggles at the plate, his versatility and track record could make him an appealing option for teams seeking infield depth.

There are certainly several teams that could benefit from taking a chance on Orlando Arcia, despite his struggles early in the 2025 season. Given his defensive versatility, postseason experience, and All-Star pedigree as recently as 2023, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Arcia draw interest from clubs in need of infield depth or veteran leadership.
As for the Braves, they appear to be regaining their footing after a sluggish start. With a 25–27 record, they sit just two games below .500 and are trending upward, thanks in part to the return of star outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr., whose presence brings a much-needed spark to both the lineup and clubhouse.
Atlanta, a perennial playoff contender, is eyeing another postseason push. While they haven’t captured the World Series every year, the Braves have been a regular fixture in October baseball in recent seasons.
Their most recent outing—a 5–3 loss to the San Diego Padres on Sunday—was a setback, but the team will look to bounce back quickly. A key opportunity awaits as they head to Philadelphia for a critical three-game series against the division-rival Phillies. Game one is scheduled for Tuesday night with first pitch at 6:45 PM EST.
