Mets Move On From Gabriel Arias

The Mets designated infielder Gabriel Arias for assignment, removing him from their 40-man roster. The 26-year-old will now have seven days to be claimed off waivers, traded, or released. If he clears waivers, the Mets could bring him back on a minor league contract.

New York claimed Arias off waivers from the Cleveland Guardians on Aug. 7 after Cleveland had designated him for assignment. However, his stint with the Mets lasted only 10 days, as he appeared in two games and went 0-for-5 with two strikeouts.

To fill the roster spot, the Mets promoted versatile infielder Christopher Morel to the major league roster.
