Auburn football is entering a new era under head coach Alex Golesh, and the Tigers are already seeing his vision for the program take shape. After building a reputation for running one of the most aggressive, high-tempo offenses in college football during his time at South Florida, Golesh is now bringing that same explosive style to the SEC. However, for the offense to reach its full potential, Auburn will need a deep and talented group of wide receivers capable of consistently creating plays downfield.
Golesh and his staff have made improving the receiver room a priority, and they continued that effort by adding another experienced piece through the transfer portal. Troy wide receiver announced his commitment to Auburn, giving the Tigers a veteran pass catcher with proven production and the ability to compete at a high level.
While Taylor has not yet been officially cleared to begin practicing with the team, he is expected to join Auburn’s roster soon. Once available, he will provide additional depth and experience to a receiver group that will be looking to make a major impact in Golesh’s first season on the Plains.
Taylor arrives at Auburn after a productive season at Troy, where he quickly became a reliable target after transferring from Coastal Carolina. During his time with the Trojans, he recorded 30 receptions for 499 yards and three touchdowns, showing his ability to make plays in a variety of situations. His combination of size, athleticism, and experience gives Auburn another option as Golesh continues building an offense designed to put pressure on opposing defenses.
Despite playing outside the Power Four level, Taylor has already shown that he can compete against some of the nation’s top programs. One of his strongest performances came against Clemson last season, when he totaled four receptions for 69 yards and a touchdown. That performance demonstrated that he has the skill set to make an impact against elite competition, something that will be important as he transitions to the SEC.
Taylor’s path to Auburn has been unique. Before reaching the Division I level, he started his career at Tyler Junior College, where he quickly established himself as one of the top junior college receivers in the country. In 2023, he earned second-team All-American recognition after putting together a standout season with 39 receptions for 850 yards and nine touchdowns.
Now, Taylor will have the opportunity to take the next step in his career while competing in the SEC. His experience, production, and ability to make big plays could make him a valuable addition to an Auburn offense that is expected to look much different under Golesh.
The Tigers are continuing to reshape their roster as they prepare for the start of the 2026 season, and adding proven transfers like Taylor is part of Golesh’s plan to build a competitive team quickly. With a new offensive identity, an emphasis on speed and playmaking, and increased competition at every position, Auburn hopes these additions will help accelerate the turnaround under its new head coach.
The Golesh era will officially begin on Sept. 5, when Auburn opens the season at home against Baylor in an intriguing non-conference matchup.
