Auburn football quickly responded to a disappointing recruiting setback with a major win in the trenches.
Just two days after missing out on four-star edge rusher JaBarrius Garror, the Tigers flipped the momentum in a big way. Auburn secured a commitment from four-star defensive tackle, fending off national powers Ohio State and Georgia for the blue-chip prospect.
The 6-foot-4, 305-pound interior lineman revealed his decision and made it clear where his heart was, dropping a “War Damn Eagle” during his announcement. Built with elite size and strength, Kamba brings a powerful presence to the middle of Auburn’s defensive front and instantly upgrades the Tigers’ future outlook in the trenches.
Kamba’s recruitment featured heavy Southeastern Conference interest. Along with Georgia, South Carolina was firmly in the mix, hoping to land the Charlotte native and keep a rising interior force closer to home. Kamba stars for Corvian Community School in Charlotte, making him a particularly attractive target for regional programs. Instead, Auburn defensive line coach Vontrell King-Williams emerged as the difference-maker, sealing a critical recruiting victory for first-year head coach Alex Golesh and his staff.
Kamba said his relationship with King-Williams played a decisive role in his commitment, pointing to constant communication and mutual trust throughout the process.
“We talk almost every single day,” Kamba said. “We joke around and do stuff, but whenever it’s time to get serious, we get serious.”
Early playing time was another major factor in his decision. According to Kamba, Auburn made it clear that freshmen are given real opportunities to contribute, something that strongly appealed to him.
“They want me to see the field early,” he explained. “That’s one thing I like about this school — they do play freshmen, and they showed me that.”
With Kamba’s pledge, Auburn continues to climb the national recruiting rankings and adds its second four-star commitment in a single week. The Tigers recently bolstered the defense with a four-star linebacker addition as well, signaling growing momentum on the trail and a strong push to build a fast, physical defense for the future.
