Auburn football closed out its A-Day festivities with a major recruiting victory, adding another highly regarded prospect to its future class just moments after the spring game wrapped up. The timing of the announcement gave Tigers fans even more reason to celebrate, as the program continued to build momentum under head coach Alex Golesh. Recruiting success is often one of the clearest signs of progress for a coaching staff, and Auburn appears to be gaining traction early in the 2027 cycle.
The latest addition gives the Tigers their second commitment in the class, further strengthening a foundation that the coaching staff hopes will grow quickly over the coming months. Landing top prospects in the SEC is never easy, especially with powerhouse programs competing for the same players, which makes this pledge even more significant.
The new commit is a 4-star tight end from Brooks County High School in Quitman, Georgia, a town located near the Florida state border. Measuring 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds, he brings the kind of size and athletic profile that makes him one of the more intriguing prospects in the 2027 recruiting class. Auburn beat out several major programs for his commitment, including Florida, Alabama, and Florida State.

His recruitment has taken an interesting path. Before choosing Auburn, George Lamons Jr. had previously been committed to Texas A&M. That earlier pledge ended in July 2025, reopening his recruitment and allowing other programs to make their push. Auburn ultimately capitalized and secured one of the more notable commitments of its young class.
Evaluators remain somewhat split on his long-term position at the college level. While he is currently ranked as the No. 11 tight end in the 2027 cycle according to 247Sports Composite rankings, many schools also pursued him as a wide receiver because of his athleticism and pass-catching ability. That versatility could make him a valuable weapon in Auburn’s offense once he arrives on campus.
In the overall national rankings, he is listed as the No. 244 prospect in the country and the No. 27 player in the talent-rich state of Georgia. Those numbers highlight just how important this win could become for Auburn in the future.
With his commitment now official, he joins 4-star defensive lineman Donivan Moore as Auburn’s current two pledges in the 2027 class, giving the Tigers an impressive early start on the recruiting trail.
