Crystal Palace are determined to secure Tyrick Mitchell’s future and are prepared to make every effort to agree a new contract with the influential left-back.
The 27-year-old has become one of the club’s most dependable players since breaking into the first team in 2020, making 247 appearances across all competitions during his time at Selhurst Park.
Mitchell recently delivered a standout performance in Crystal Palace’s first victory under Pierre Sage, scoring twice in a dramatic 3-2 comeback win over Fulham at Craven Cottage.
According to former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown, Palace are planning to reward the England international with a “bumper” new deal as recognition for his long-standing contribution to the club.
Mitchell’s current contract is due to expire next summer, but discussions are already taking place behind the scenes as Palace look to convince him to extend his stay in South London.
The defender is reportedly happy at Selhurst Park and open to negotiations over fresh terms after playing an important role in the club’s recent FA Cup and Conference League successes.

Brown previously revealed that Crystal Palace had no intention of allowing Mitchell to leave, despite reported interest from major clubs including Arsenal and Manchester United.
The left-back’s consistency, defensive reliability, and growing attacking influence have made him a key figure for the Eagles. His performances have attracted attention from some of the Premier League’s biggest sides, but Palace are keen to make sure he remains part of their plans.
Over the past two seasons, Mitchell has continued to improve going forward while maintaining his reputation as one of the team’s most reliable performers.
Speaking to Football Insider, Brown said:
“Tyrick Mitchell has been an outstanding player for Crystal Palace.
“They will be doing everything in their power to keep him at the club and extend his contract, so I expect there will be a bumper deal in the offing for him in the near future.
“Palace want to show how much they appreciate, admire and respect the job he has done for them over a number of years now.
“He gives you an 8/10 performance every week, he’s always available, never kicks up a fuss or causes any problems, he just gets on with his job and he does it well.
“He’s the exact type of player every club in the world would want in their squad, and to be honest, Crystal Palace would probably want four or five more with that sort of attitude.
“By all accounts, he’s happy at Crystal Palace as well, and like I say, they are delighted with him so I’m sure efforts will be made to make sure he sticks around well into the future.”
Other Crystal Palace stars could also receive new deals
Mitchell is not the only Palace player being considered for a contract extension as the club look to secure the futures of several important first-team members.
Goalkeeper Dean Henderson is also among the players Palace want to retain, while the club have remained determined to keep hold of their key assets despite outside interest.
Meanwhile, Brown previously confirmed that Palace had opened discussions with defender Chris Richards over a possible extension.
Richards, like Mitchell, has a contract running until 2027, and the Eagles are keen to reward him for his contribution to the team’s recent achievements.
Although Richards endured a difficult start to the new campaign after a shortened pre-season following the World Cup, he remains highly valued at Selhurst Park and is viewed as an important part of Palace’s long-term plans.
