BREAKING: Hull City’s 25-man Premier League squad named with five left out amid surprise inclusion

Sergej Jakirovic has confirmed his 25-man Hull City squad for the Premier League, with five players failing to make the final selection.

Jakirovic faced a difficult task in trimming his squad to comply with Premier League registration rules, and the arrival of six players on deadline day only made that challenge more complicated.

The late additions of Robinio Vaz and Christos Mouzakitis have helped ease the situation slightly, with both players young enough to avoid requiring registration. Summer signings Lucas Herrington and Jens Hjerto-Dahl are also exempt due to their age, with both still under 21.

Even so, the Tigers remain well stocked with players, meaning five members of Jakirovic’s current squad have ultimately missed out.

Interestingly, Abdulkadir Omur has been included despite interest in the attacking midfielder from Türkiye. Omur has spent the past season and a half away from the MKM Stadium on loan, but his inclusion in the registered squad suggests Jakirovic wants him to remain part of his plans.

Kieran Dowell, however, has not been included after finding it difficult to establish himself since arriving from Rangers in January. The midfielder was offered to Championship clubs towards the end of the transfer window, but no domestic move could be completed.

David Akintola has also been omitted, which comes as little surprise, while new arrival Oscar Zambrano has failed to make the 25-man group, leaving the Ecuadorian outside the registered squad.

Darko Gyabi and Eliot Matazo have also missed out, although both players are currently sidelined through injury. Matazo, in particular, is expected to be absent for a significant portion of the campaign.

Speaking during his press conference on Thursday afternoon, Jakirovic explained that the club would do all they could to secure moves for the players left out of his squad, with several transfer windows across Europe still remaining open.

However, should suitable moves fail to materialise, those players could be left on the sidelines until at least January, when the transfer market opens again.
