Alex Golesh and his staff went into Georgia and came away with a major building block for the future, as physically talented quarterback announced his commitment to Auburn today.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound passer from Snellville, Georgia, had been pledged to Wake Forest, but reopened his recruitment earlier in the week. Auburn capitalized quickly, continuing its steady push and ultimately winning over the talented Class of 2027 signal-caller.
Chatman made it clear that his decision was driven by how comfortable he felt during his time on campus and the connection he built with the coaching staff. After returning for a second visit, he said everything clicked — from the environment to the energy surrounding the program — and by the time he left, he knew Auburn was where he wanted to be.
Golesh continues to stack pieces in Auburn’s 2027 recruiting class, and Chatman brings intriguing upside. As a junior at Brookwood High School, he threw for 1,494 yards and 12 touchdowns against just four interceptions, while also adding 418 rushing yards and five scores on the ground. Despite it being his first season as a starter, he helped guide his team to the second round of Georgia’s Class AAAAAA playoffs.
Known as a dual-threat quarterback, Chatman has already shown flashes of growth as a passer, particularly on throws downfield. He displays strong pocket awareness, can escape pressure to extend plays, and remains accurate when throwing on the move. His athleticism is a clear weapon, especially on RPO concepts where he can turn the corner and outrun defenders to the edge.
A major factor in Chatman’s decision was his belief in Golesh and the direction of the program. After speaking with multiple members of the staff about why they chose Auburn, he said the praise for Golesh stood out. Once he sat down with the head coach personally, he felt confident he had found someone he wanted to play for — a coach he views as energetic, intelligent, and driven to win.

While signing day is still a long way off, Chatman made it clear that his recruitment is over. The combination of the coaching staff, the atmosphere, and Auburn’s proximity to home ultimately sealed the decision. Though parting ways with Wake Forest wasn’t easy and came with plenty of appreciation for that staff, Chatman said Auburn was simply the best choice for his future.
With that, he’s fully locked in — no more visits, no second thoughts. As far as Chatman is concerned, he’s all in on Auburn.
