Auburn added another key piece to its roster landing a commitment from a player granted an additional season of eligibility after a court ruling determined that NCAA age-based eligibility rules should apply to members of the 2022 recruiting class.
Former Utah State guard announced his decision to join the Tigers, telling On3’s Joe Tipton that he will spend the 2026 season at Auburn. The Pompano Beach, Florida, native played in 36 games for the Aggies during the 2025-26 season, averaging 7.5 points in 19.2 minutes per game.
King’s path to Auburn has been anything but ordinary, as the veteran guard is set to suit up for his fifth program in five seasons. He began his college career at St. John’s in 2022-23, averaging limited minutes before entering the transfer portal following Rick Pitino’s arrival to replace Mike Anderson.
He then moved to Tulane, where he became a bigger contributor, appearing in 31 games with 23 starts while averaging 10.4 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. After another transfer, King landed at Butler, producing 5.6 points per game in 18.9 minutes over 34 appearances.
Utah State appeared to be the final stop of his college journey, but a recent legal ruling changed the outlook for players from the 2022 class. A Colorado judge issued an injunction stating that the NCAA’s “five-for-five” eligibility rule should apply to those athletes, opening the door for King to use an additional year despite the NCAA not applying the ruling retroactively.
Now, King will bring his experience and versatility to the SEC, joining an Auburn program coming off a successful first season under head coach Steven Pearl. The Tigers finished 22-16 and captured the NIT championship, and King becomes another experienced addition as Auburn continues building its roster for the upcoming season.
