Nottingham Forest could face another major transfer headache surrounding Morgan Gibbs-White, with Tottenham Hotspur reportedly preparing to revive their interest in the England international in 2027.
Gibbs-White has once again emerged as a key figure at the City Ground, having established himself as one of Forest’s most important players over the past two years. His performances have also continued to attract attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, with Tottenham now said to be considering another ambitious attempt to bring him to north London.
Tottenham have endured a difficult beginning to the campaign, with their summer additions yet to fully settle into Roberto De Zerbi’s team. Spurs entered the international break at the bottom of the Premier League table, increasing the pressure on their manager and highlighting the need for a significant improvement.
The Lilywhites did finish the summer transfer window with a flurry of attacking additions, bringing in Omar Marmoush, Savio and Mykhailo Mudryk in quick succession. The trio were expected to provide greater attacking threat and help Tottenham become more clinical in front of goal.
So far, however, that improvement has failed to materialise. De Zerbi’s side have scored just two goals across their opening five league matches, with chance creation and finishing continuing to be major concerns.
Mohammed Kudus has appeared rusty since returning from a lengthy quad injury, while James Maddison is yet to make a start following his recovery from an ACL rupture. With Maddison getting older and struggling with injuries, Tottenham are understood to view finding a potential long-term replacement as an important priority.

Tottenham’s interest in Gibbs-White is far from new. Spurs activated the £60million release clause in his contract during the 2025 summer transfer window, but Forest were determined to keep their talisman at the City Ground.
Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis reportedly threatened Tottenham with legal action over what he considered an unlawful approach to the player. He ultimately managed to convince Gibbs-White to turn down the move and commit his future to Forest by signing a new three-year contract.
The 26-year-old has remained one of Forest’s standout performers and has made another strong start to the current campaign, keeping his name firmly on Tottenham’s radar.
Recent reports now claim Spurs are preparing an audacious fresh attempt for the playmaker in 2027. Their proposed offer could reportedly reach £125m, a figure that would match the British transfer record.
According to an exclusive report from Football Insider, Gibbs-White is ‘weighing up’ a potential push to leave Forest at the end of the season. However, Tottenham’s chances of completing the move could depend heavily on Champions League qualification.
For Spurs to have a realistic opportunity, they would reportedly need to secure Champions League football while Forest miss out. Gibbs-White is said to be happy at the City Ground, but he also has ambitions of playing in Europe’s premier competition, raising questions over whether Forest can continue matching his aspirations.
A £125m transfer would make Gibbs-White Tottenham’s record signing, surpassing the £100m spent on Sandro Tonali during the summer. It would also put him level with Alexander Isak and Enzo Fernandez as the joint-most expensive signing in Premier League history.
Tottenham, though, would first need a dramatic turnaround under De Zerbi if they are to achieve Champions League qualification and make the kind of proposal capable of matching Gibbs-White’s ambitions.
And Spurs may not have a clear path to the England international either, with Bayern Munich reportedly also monitoring the situation and potentially ready to compete for his signature.
