BREAKING: Phillies Get Huge Kyle Schwarber Boost After Shohei Ohtani All-Star Decision

When the fan voting results for the 2026 MLB All-Star Game were first revealed, the Philadelphia Phillies appeared set to have just one player in the National League’s starting lineup. Outfielder Brandon Marsh earned the fans’ vote to start, giving him the opportunity to take the field in front of a home crowd at Citizens Bank Park in what promises to be one of the most memorable moments of his career.

Now, Marsh won’t be the only Phillies starter taking center stage.

Philadelphia slugger Kyle Schwarber has officially been elevated into the National League’s starting lineup after Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani withdrew from the Midsummer Classic. Ohtani, who led all National League players in Phase 1 of fan voting to secure an automatic starting spot, elected to skip the game after revealing he has been dealing with discomfort and inflammation in his left knee.

Schwarber will take Ohtani’s place as the National League’s designated hitter, giving the Phillies a second starter in front of their home fans. National League manager Dave Roberts, who also manages the Dodgers, didn’t hesitate to place one of baseball’s hottest power hitters in a premier spot in the batting order.

The official lineup for the July 14 All-Star Game has Schwarber leading off for the National League, setting the tone atop a star-studded order. Marsh will patrol right field and hit seventh, giving Philadelphia two representatives in the starting nine.

Behind Schwarber in the lineup is New York Mets superstar Juan Soto, who will bat second while playing left field. Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman occupies his familiar No. 3 spot in the order, followed by Washington Nationals shortstop CJ Abrams in the cleanup position.

Los Angeles third baseman Max Muncy will hit fifth, while Atlanta Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies slots into the sixth spot. Marsh follows in the seventh position before Dodgers center fielder Andy Pages bats eighth. Atlanta catcher Drake Baldwin rounds out the lineup in the ninth spot behind the plate.

The Phillies’ presence won’t end with Schwarber and Marsh in the batting order.

Philadelphia left-hander Cristopher Sánchez has been selected as the National League’s starting pitcher, giving the hometown crowd another familiar face to cheer as he takes the mound to open the game. It marks a significant honor for Sánchez, whose outstanding first half established him as one of the National League’s premier starting pitchers.

The Phillies will also have plenty of additional firepower available throughout the game. Former MVP Bryce Harper is set to come off the bench, while fellow starter Jesús Luzardo and closer Jhoan Durán will strengthen the National League pitching staff as reserve selections.

With six Phillies representing the National League—including three starters—Philadelphia will have one of the strongest showings of any team at the 2026 All-Star Game. For the fans at Citizens Bank Park, hearing Schwarber, Marsh, and Sánchez introduced before the first pitch should create one of the loudest ovations of the night as the city celebrates a club that has once again established itself among baseball’s elite.
