BREAKING: Phillies Part Ways With Pitcher in Latest Deal With Rockies

The Philadelphia Phillies and Colorado Rockies has completed a trade in which Philadelphia sent right handed pitcher Andrew Baker to Colorado in exchange for international bonus pool money. The move comes as Colorado placed Chase Dollander on the injured list, creating a need for additional pitching depth. Philadelphia has experienced an uneven season but has shown signs of improvement in recent games.

Andrew Baker, age 26, has not yet reached the major league level. The right handed relief pitcher has shown encouraging development and could provide value to a Rockies team that has struggled to strengthen its pitching staff. In fourteen games at the double A level this season, he has recorded a strong earned run average of 2.65. He has also produced 25 strikeouts across 17 innings pitched, demonstrating swing and miss ability.

Colorado enters the transaction with a record of 19 wins and 32 losses. The franchise has faced continued difficulties over recent seasons and expectations remain modest heading into 2026. Even so, the addition of a pitching arm like Baker could offer some short term help and organizational depth.

It remains to be seen whether Baker will get an opportunity to contribute at the major league level and make an impact for Colorado.

On the other side, Philadelphia holds a record of 25 wins and 25 losses. The team has dealt with inconsistency but appears to be trending upward and still believes it can compete during the season despite early struggles.

The Phillies are currently facing the Cleveland Guardians, who lead the American League Central division. Colorado is scheduled to play the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night, with Arizona sitting in third place in the National League West standings.

Both organizations will look to improve roster depth as the season progresses toward its critical stretch ahead.
