David Moyes will be without at least two players when Everton welcome Ipswich Town to Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday, although there has been encouraging news surrounding another member of his squad.
The Toffees are aiming to preserve their unbeaten start to the Premier League campaign as they prepare to face the newly promoted side.
Everton have collected six points from their opening four league matches, recording one victory and three draws. They have also progressed to the last 16 of the Carabao Cup after beating Wolves in midweek, with Charly Alcaraz scoring the decisive goal.
However, Harrison Armstrong was absent from that victory after featuring in each of Everton’s previous five matches. Moyes has now provided an update on Armstrong, as well as the latest injury situation within his squad.
Everton Receive Positive Harrison Armstrong Injury Update
Everton will have a three-week international break following Saturday’s meeting with Ipswich, giving several players additional time to recover.
So far, the Toffees have avoided a major injury crisis, and Armstrong appears to be on course to return to contention against Ipswich.
Moyes offered an encouraging update during his Friday press conference.
“We’re still waiting on Harrison a little bit to see how he is,” Moyes said. “But we’re expecting him to be okay.”
While Armstrong’s situation appears positive, Everton will still be missing Merlin Rohl and Christian Norgaard.
Norgaard, who arrived from Arsenal during the summer, has yet to make his competitive debut for the club. Rohl, meanwhile, has already started three matches across all competitions but will remain sidelined until after the international break.
How Could Everton Line Up Against Ipswich?
Armstrong’s potential return could force Moyes to reconsider the team selection that had previously been predicted for the Ipswich clash, although the Everton boss may choose to be cautious with the midfielder.
One possible setup could see Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall operating behind lone striker Thierno Barry, with Tyrique George and Jack Grealish providing width from the flanks.
James Garner and Hayden Hackney could anchor the midfield in front of the defensive line, with Jordan Pickford continuing in goal.
Despite the absence of Rohl and Norgaard, Moyes still has plenty of options available as Everton look to extend their unbeaten run and head into the international break with their early-season momentum intact.
